How to Keep Patients When Insurance Runs Out

It will come as no surprise to you that one of your members’ biggest problems is feeling helpless in the face of patients who run out the door the day their insurance runs out.

Even patients who are the most devoted to chiropractic are understandably focused on the cost of their care. They look to their insurance to cover a percentage of their costs, but with most third-party payers allowing only six to 15 visits a year (and that latter figure is generous), they assume that once their insurance company will no longer pay, they can no longer afford their care.

That’s not surprising. If patients are paying attention to their Explanation of Benefits (EOB), they’ve seen that $90 or $100 figure, and they assume that’s what they’d be paying out of pocket once insurance coverage ends for the year. In many chiropractic offices, they do.

But what if your members could keep post-insurance, out-of-pocket payments approximately the same amount as their patients’ co-pays?
